Books Based on Traditional Songs      Books based on Original Songs         Picture Books with a Song in the Story           Books With A Beat

Some of these titles are based on popular copyrighted songs, and some are new original children’s songs. There are countless titles, and if you have a favorite song it’s worth doing a search to see if it’s been published in picture book format. As with the other book lists, some are out of print, but most seem to be available used, if not new. Many of the popular songs were not written for children but are often favorites of parents or grandparents. Having the song in picture book format is a wonderful way to share a favorite song using the illustrations that bring it to life and make it relevant to children.

Barefoot Books publishes lots of wonderful sing-along picture books, of both traditional and original songs. I’ve listed just a few that I have used. To find more, visit their website, ask your local bookseller, or look up at your public library by doing an advanced search by publisher.
